2025 National Engineers Week Celebration
This program explores the transformative personal journey and global significance of the US-UK Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA), offering insights for those focused on career advancement and professional growth in engineering. Attendees will gain inspiration from a distinguished speaker who transitioned from a 30-year career in government—most recently as Deputy Director of Los Angeles County Public Works, the largest public works department in the U.S.—to a C-level position in the private sector.
The presentation will also delve into the recent Professional Board signing of the US-UK MRA at the 103rd NCEES Annual Meeting in Chicago. Appointed in 2020 by California Governor Gavin Newsom to the Board of Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists, Ms. D’Antonio will discuss what this agreement means for Professional Engineers (PEs), including the potential for international mobility, such as engineers gaining reciprocity to become Chartered Engineers in the UK, and vice versa. The session will also explore the MRA’s potential impact on California, particularly in addressing the engineering talent shortage.
